Once again we come to the end of one of he busiest shopping weekends of the year. Most people are asking you what you bought and what kind of deals you got. What I want to know is how and why you bought it?
Big Ticket Items
Everyone out there is hunting for the best deals. That’s what the weekend is all about. So how did you go about getting a deal on what you wanted? Did you research it on the internet? Did you go through flyers? Maybe you just walked in and asked the sales guy. How did you decide on the model or style you bought? Was there research for that? Or was it just on a whim? How much time did you spend on the purchase before you hit that cash register?
Impulse Buys
I’m guessing there is a few people out there that bought something that wasn’t on the shopping list. Maybe you’ve wanted it or maybe it just had your name on it. What I want to know is, in that exact moment, what made you get it? Why then? Was it the sale? Or something the sales guy said?
Sales
Now think about those big purchases. Remember the situation. Tell me how it went. Maybe you weren’t even planning on buying a television. You were just walking through the store. You couldn’t help but notice this gorgeous HD flat screen on the end of the row. The sales guy saw you looking and starting talking to you. Plus what a great deal. Or maybe you have a different story? I’d love to hear it.
Do you know why? It’s because you understand it. You are going to go out and sell yourself or maybe some product or service. If you meet someone with a similar story, you’ll just click. You understand each other. Now think about a big ticket item you didn’t buy. Maybe something you were looking at in the store. Why didn’t you buy it? What reasons did you come up with? You will understand those as well. You’re going to understand the next time someone gives you one of those reasons to not buy from you. Okay, what’s your takeaway? What’s more important, how you buy or how you don’t?
